Benjamin Eaton Elementary School
RB+B Architects engaged our services to photograph their addition to Benjamin Eaton Elementary School in Eaton, Colorado. This project demonstrates the firm’s skill in expanding an existing educational facility while maintaining cohesion with the original structure.
The goal was to document the newly added spaces, highlighting how they enhance the school’s functionality and aesthetic appeal, while showcasing RB+B Architects’ ability to create modern learning environments within an active school campus.
Challenges
The project presented multiple overlapping challenges. The school remained in active session during photography, while ongoing construction introduced visual distractions such as orange safety fencing throughout the property.
We also needed to work around busy student drop-off and pick-up periods, avoid classroom disruptions, and capture spaces in use while strictly adhering to student privacy requirements.
Solutions
We implemented a multi-faceted approach to navigate these constraints. By identifying less active periods throughout the school day, we maximized shooting opportunities while minimizing disruption.
Careful timing allowed us to incorporate students naturally in common areas, bringing life to the spaces while maintaining privacy. Advanced post-production techniques were used to remove construction elements, presenting the addition as it was intended. When certain shots proved unattainable due to construction limitations, we communicated transparently with the client and adjusted the final invoice to ensure fair value.
Outcome
The RB+B Architects team responded enthusiastically to the final images, noting that they were eager to share the work internally. Despite the construction challenges, the photography successfully captured their design vision.
The images now serve as valuable portfolio assets, showcasing RB+B Architects’ expertise in seamlessly integrating new construction with existing educational facilities.
