Photography of a Mountain Modern Home in Estes Park
This minimalist mountain modern home by Bas1s Architecture + Design is located in Estes Park, Colorado. It is perched on the side of a hill overlooking the west part of town near the Beaver Meadows entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Steve, Principal Architect, invited me out for an advanced site visit so he could show me what he would like to see in the photographs. From the moment I saw materials and aesthetic of this innovative new home, I couldn’t wait to photograph it.
Natural pine, steel, dry stack stonework, and glass are the main elements that make up the design and build. To top it off, the metal roofing is a juxtaposition of angles that brings interesting ceiling lines throughout the kitchen and great room.
The walls in the great room are mostly windows letting in the fantastic views of the mountains surrounding Estes Park. The glass wall and floating steel beam staircase with pine treads makes a sleek, simple, and unique transition from one level to the next.
The deck is supported by a single V shaped support. This ingenious and clean design keeps the area below the deck as open as possible and free of obstructions. A similar structural feature is reflected at the front entry of the home. A single post supporting the copper colored metal and pine entryway overhang.
