In the sections below, you'll learn how we prepare for your session during our consultation, create a relaxed and personalized atmosphere during your photoshoot, and apply expert editing and retouching after your session. This process ensures that every detail contributes to portraits you'll cherish for years to come.

Before Your Session

We'll start with a consultation to plan your vision, discuss outfit selection and location options, and provide tips to prepare for your session. Summer (June-August) and early fall (September-October) offer ideal conditions, with plenty of time before yearbook deadlines.

During Your Session

Creating a comfortable experience with natural guidance
Sessions are relaxed and enjoyable, with clear direction so you always know what to do. You'll never be left wondering how to pose or feeling awkward in front of the camera. You can change outfits, visit different locations based on your package, and bring parents or friends along if you'd like.

Personalized sessions with location variety
Your interests, style, and personality shape the entire experience. Together we'll choose locations that match who you are - whether it's urban settings, natural landscapes, or incorporating your activities and interests. Your session will reflect who you really are, not just check a box for the yearbook.

After Your Session

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are professional senior portraits important?

Senior portraits are unique because they focus entirely on you at this significant moment in your life. Unlike family photos or casual snapshots, these images:

  • Celebrate your individuality and achievements as you complete high school
  • Provide polished images for yearbook, graduation announcements, and social media
  • Create lasting memories that your family will display for years to come
  • Mark your transition from high school to the next chapter of your life

Professional portraits capture who you really are - not an awkward, stiff version. With proper lighting, direction, and editing, you'll look natural and confident in images worth keeping.

When is the best time to schedule senior portraits?

The best time is during the summer before your senior year (June-August) or early fall (September-October). These seasons provide ideal lighting and comfortable conditions, plus give you plenty of time before yearbook deadlines.

When should I book my session?

For the best selection of dates, book 2-3 months in advance. Our summer and early fall sessions book quickly, especially July through October.

What's included in the session fee?

The session fee includes the initial consultation, photo session, editing, retouching, digital files, and online gallery. Session fees also include a gift card in the amount of your print credit that you can use to purchase prints and other products through our online professional photo lab portal.

When do I pay the session fee?

A 50% deposit is due when you book your appointment. The remaining balance is due one week before you session. Please note that session fees are non-refundable.

What if I need to reschedule my session?

We monitor weather closely and will contact you if conditions look problematic. We can reschedule your outdoor portrait session to a time that works for both of us. Your session fee transfers to the new date in case of weather cancellations or other unforeseen events.

What defines a "location" in my portrait session?

A location is any distinct setting that requires transportation between sites. Places we can explore on foot count as a single location, even if we visit multiple spots - like downtown Windsor's Main Street, Boardwalk Park, and alleyways, or various landmarks across the CSU Campus.

When we need to drive between settings, each new destination counts as an additional location. This approach allows us to maximize your actual photography time within your session. By focusing on walkable areas with diverse backdrops, we can capture more variety without spending precious session time packing equipment, driving, and setting up at new locations. Our goal is to create the richest possible portrait collection within your chosen package time.

What should I wear?

Bring 3-4 outfits that reflect your personal style. Choose clothing that makes you feel confident, mix casual with dressier options, and include at least one look that highlights your interests. Solid colors generally photograph better than busy patterns or large logos.

How many outfit changes can I have?

You're welcome to change outfits as often as you'd like! Just keep in mind that each change uses some of your photography time. We find that 3-4 outfit changes work well for most families to maximize both variety and photography time.

  • For 1-hour sessions: 1-2 outfits
  • For 1.5-hour sessions: 2-3 outfits
  • For 2-hour sessions: 3-4 outfits
How should I prepare for my session?

What to wear:

  • Clothes you feel confident in - when you feel good, it shows
  • Mix of casual and slightly dressier options
  • At least one outfit showing your interests (sports jersey, band shirt, etc.)
  • Solid colors photograph better than busy patterns or large logos

Before your session:

  • Schedule haircuts 1-2 weeks ahead (not the day before)
  • Get enough rest the night before
  • Don't stress about temporary skin issues - professional editing handles those
  • Think about what makes this year special for you

What to bring:

  • All outfits on hangers
  • Props that represent your interests
  • Water and snacks for longer sessions
  • A friend or family member for fun and support
Do I get digital files with my package?

Yes! All packages include digital images perfect for sharing online.

What can I expect to get with the print credit for my session?

Each photoshoot session includes a print credit. For example, our Keepsake 1 Hour Session includes a $900 print credit. This order could include…

  • One 16x20 Gallery Frame w/11x14 print and non glare glass: A striking piece designed to be the centerpiece on your wall.
  • One 8x8 Signature Photo Album: Each book includes 5 spreads (10 images total) and serves as a wonderful keepsake.
  • Six 5x7 Prints: Perfect for sharing with family and friends.

While the total value of these products is approximately $900, slight variations in pricing can occur. During our initial phone consultation, we'll share our complete product price list so you can review all pricing details ahead of time.

What if we go over our scheduled time?

The last thing I want to do is cut a session short when we're getting great photos. You can add additional time to your session on the spot if needed. Additional time is $100 per 1/2 hour, which includes both the extra photography time and the preparation of those images for your review.

Do parents attend the session?

Yes, parents are welcome and encouraged! Having family there can make the experience more enjoyable, and parents often appreciate seeing the process.

How soon will I see my pictures?

Within two weeks of your session, you'll receive access to your personalized online gallery showcasing your portraits. From the comfort of your home, browse through your images and select your favorites for professional retouching.

How soon can I expect my finished portraits?

Once you place your order, please allow about 2 weeks for your portraits to be printed and delivered to your door.

When is payment required for my order?

Full payment is required when you checkout through our online professional photo lab portal. Please note that all orders are custom-made and non-refundable.

Do you save my files?

Yes, we save your files—but only those you've ordered. All images ordered from your session are archived for up to one year. Please note that any images not ordered during your purchasing appointment will not be saved.
